Seriously, do you know? Does everyone around you know… whose team you are on?
I fundamentally believe that this is the most important criterion for success… not only for life, but also for a successful business career. A favorite saying that comes to mind is, “One’s loyalty or one’s disloyalty will eventually show its head.” It may take a day, a week, a month or a year, but sooner or later, one or the other will reveal itself.
What is the most cherished asset within your business? It’s the people on your team. Who are these people? They’re the people who lift you up… not the ones who bring you down. They’re the people who say, “How can I help you? rather than, “What’s in it for me?” They’re the people you can count on, not the one’s you question. They are the people who never waver and… “always have your back.” They’re the ones who would rather have the focus on the team rather than themselves. Very simply, they are the people who help you carve out your successes. Those are the people you want on your team.
Think about who is on your team and who’s team you play on. Some people say, “Well I’m my own person, I don’t have a team.” Sure you do. How about your spouse, children, pastor, your doctor, your friends, etc.. that’s your team.
If there is one thing I learned over the years, it’s the importance of building a quality team around oneself. You have heard me say many times… “you are never any better than the people you surround yourself with.” I hope you recognize the same.
As I have moved into the second half of my lifetime, I realize that there is nothing fundamentally different about the “team” concept. Actually more than ever, I recognize who is on my team. The reality is… your “circle” has been created and grown with a very deliberate vision for growth through… family, friends and TEAM.
I absolutely guarantee that the people on my team know that I am the ultimate teammate. That means you. I will do anything for you. My goal is to lift you up… always. I hope you think of me as someone who you can always count on… and who’s commitment to you will never waver…never ever. You are my family… you are my team… and I’m proud to be on it!
Have a great weekend!
