Occasionally, I find myself thrust into situations where the path forward isn’t clear. The right course of action remains elusive, and everything seems to fade into various blurry shades of gray. The pressing question echoes in my mind: What do I do? What do I do?
As an entrepreneur, a leader, and a parent, indecision is a luxury I cannot afford. The demand for a decision is imminent, whether within the next few minutes or by day’s end. Welcome to the constant dilemma of a decision-maker.
In this realm, there is no wide margin for error, as most decisions bear consequences. I can seek counsel from those whose opinions I value, weigh the pros and cons diligently, or trust my instincts—all in the pursuit of sidestepping costly mistakes.
Yet, the unvarnished truth is that life’s decisions are often far from black and white; they reside in the realm of gray, regardless of the perspective. To prevent being paralyzed by indecision, I must take action. But therein lies the next dilemma—what if it’s not the right move?
When the right decision appears blurred, a shift in thinking becomes necessary. Instead of fixating on potential outcomes, I pose two fundamental questions: Does this decision align with my values? Is this decision an honorable choice?
If the resounding answer to both questions is yes, then the decision becomes clear-cut. Sometimes, focusing on the rationale behind the decision, rather than dwelling on the potential fallout, is the key. Ultimately, I can derive satisfaction from the choices made by ensuring I have asked myself the right questions.
Have a great weekend everyone.
