If you have been watching the Republican debates as of late, perhaps you have been as amused as I have. I listen to each candidate speak about themselves and what qualities they possess that makes them believe they are the best leader. I look at each of them and think to myself… could this person … Continue reading Leaders
Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had a life map to follow? Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had a GPS receiver for the soul. It would be nice if we could go to Google Maps, put in “where should I go in life,” and it’d print out a step-by-step set of directions … Continue reading Directions
I’m reading this great book, Execution, (The Discipline of Getting Things Done) When Nike chose “Just Do It” as their advertising slogan, they hit upon a true component of the success formula… the importance of execution. I’m not talking about the type of execution that would raise the ire of death penalty opponents the world … Continue reading Execution
In many companies, it used to be more common than it is today… people who routinely “went the extra mile”… in other words, they put in more than was expected of them, time after time after time. People almost sleeping at their desk, those who speak in such a depressed, monotone voice that they almost put you to sleep. Others have such unbridled enthusiasm, it makes you wonder what they ate for … Continue reading Enthusiasm
Ordinarily on a typical Friday, I might be jotting down a few words about having faith in yourself. Today, I’m writing on a different point of view – having faith in other people, specifically the people you work with. I’ve had my share of disagreements with clients, agents, employees and employers over the years, and … Continue reading Faith in Others
Ever been on a roll? Ever been in the zone? Ever been on fire? Athletes use these terms all of the time when everything seems to be going their way. It’s the power of the streak. What happens to your mental state when you get on a roll… when you start a streak? You say … Continue reading The Streak
Just yesterday, I was meeting with a friend of mine. He was expressing his frustration about never really making any more money year after year. Each year, his 1099 always seems to look the same and was asking my opinion of how I felt he could move to the next level. I know this person … Continue reading Comfort Zone
