Friendship is one of life’s greatest treasures. It is more valuable than wealth or status, because without true friends, life feels empty and unbalanced. Friends bring us connection, perspective, and joy, and they remind us that success means very little if it is lived in isolation.
Think about it: in a world of billions of people, it is rare to find those genuine, unconditional friendships where you can be fully yourself, understood without explanation. Yet those relationships are what sustain us.
Friendship, though, depends less on others and more on you: your sincerity, your willingness to show up authentically, and your commitment to contribute to the relationship. If you remain steady in who you are, others will recognize your sincerity, and in time, friendships will form that are as strong and enduring as a towering oak.
This truth carries over into our business. Real estate is built on relationships, and many of the most meaningful friendships in our lives often come through our work. The colleague who encourages you after a tough transaction, the mentor who helps you grow, the client who starts a business relationship but evolves into someone you share dinners, milestones, and even vacations with. These are examples of the friendships that add richness to our careers. Fortunately, I am proud to say that the greatest part of my job is coming to work every day and feeling surrounded by my friends. It is a true blessing, and for that, I am extremely thankful.
Sometimes, friends influence us more than family. Good friends challenge us to grow, encourage us to keep going, and celebrate with us when goals are reached. In real estate, that shared pursuit of a common goal, helping people find their place in the world, creates an especially strong bond. When we encourage each other, stand by each other, and celebrate wins together, we are not just building businesses, we are building lifelong friendships.
Friendship is not just about what you gain, it is about the way you live: showing up sincerely, lifting others, and being the kind of person others can count on. Do that, and you will find yourself surrounded by good friends, both in life and in business.
