One of the most important mindset shifts a high-performing organization can make is replacing the word they with we.
“They should fix this.”
“They didn’t tell me.”
“They need to be better.”
Who exactly is they?
At Intero, there is no they. There is only we.
We are the culture.
We are the standard.
We are the solution.
This mindset has been front and center during our Regional Breakfast Meetings. These gatherings remind us that our culture is our most valuable asset—but culture isn’t built by slogans. It’s built by people who take ownership, uplift one another, and lean into the challenges with a solutions-first mindset.
We also introduced four core principles that will define how we show up for one another and for our clients:
- Empowerment: We equip and trust our people to make confident, impactful decisions.
- Innovation: We embrace ideas that push boundaries and move us forward.
- Transparency: We lead with honesty, clarity, and consistency.
- Accountability: We take ownership because progress begins with personal responsibility.
But there’s something else we must all be vigilant about: negativity.
Negativity is a culture killer. It spreads quietly but aggressively. It can take root in gossip, blame, cynicism, or finger-pointing. The best way to fight it? With courage, clarity, and community.
Courage to speak up.
Clarity to focus on solutions.
Community that reinforces what’s right.
