If you’ve been paying attention to everything happening at Intero lately, you might be feeling a little overwhelmed. New technology, new platforms, new partnerships, new initiatives. It seems like every week we’re introducing something else designed to change the way we do business.
And I get it. Change can be exhausting, particularly when you’re already working hard to manage your business, serve your clients, and navigate a real estate market that continues to challenge even the most experienced professionals.
But I want to offer you a different perspective.
Rather than feeling overwhelmed by everything that’s coming our way, I believe we should be incredibly excited about where we’re headed.
HomeServices of America is making some very bold strategic investments in our future. OnePoint, Maestro, Open Real Estate, and 1000WATT are not simply new names or another collection of tools to learn. They represent a coordinated effort to position our company, our brand, and most importantly, our agents to compete and win in a rapidly evolving industry.
Think about that for a moment. While much of our industry is trying to figure out what the future of residential real estate looks like, our parent company is investing significant resources to help us shape that future.
That’s a pretty exciting position to be in.
I’ve spent more than 40 years in this business, and one thing I’ve learned is that our industry never stops evolving. Consumer expectations change. Technology changes. The competitive landscape changes. What worked exceptionally well yesterday may not be enough to succeed tomorrow.
But here’s something that hasn’t changed, and I don’t believe ever will.
Real estate is, first and foremost, a relationship business.
People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Technology will never replace the value of a trusted advisor, the reassurance of an experienced professional, or the personal relationships that have always been the foundation of our success.
What technology can do is make us better at delivering that experience. It can make us more efficient, more informed, more responsive, and ultimately more valuable to the people who place their trust in us.
And that brings me to something I shared with our leadership team this week.
Think about a championship race car driver. The best drivers in the world have extraordinary talent, experience, and determination. They know how to compete, and they know how to win.
But even champions need a pit stop.
No matter how talented the driver or how powerful the car, there comes a point when it’s time to pull into the pit, install a fresh set of tires, refuel, make adjustments, and prepare for the laps ahead.
That pit stop isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a competitive strategy.
In fact, the teams that execute their pit stops most effectively often gain the advantage that ultimately determines who wins the race.
I think there’s a tremendous lesson in that for all of us.
Many of you are already highly successful agents. You’ve built wonderful businesses, established strong relationships, and developed systems that have served you well for years. You should be proud of what you’ve accomplished.
But past success doesn’t guarantee future success.
Sometimes the very things that made us successful can make us reluctant to change. We get comfortable with our routines, our processes, and the way we’ve always done things. And when something new comes along, our first instinct might be to question whether we really need it.
My challenge to you is simple: Don’t let your past success become an obstacle to your future potential.
Take the pit stop.
Invest the time to understand Maestro. Learn how the expanding HomeServices ecosystem can support your business. Embrace the marketing resources, technology, and integrated services that are being made available to you. Ask questions. Attend the training. Challenge yourself to become proficient with tools that may initially feel unfamiliar.
We’re not making these investments because we believe our agents are falling behind. We’re making them because we believe our agents deserve every possible advantage to stay ahead.
And let’s remember something else about racing. The driver may be the one behind the wheel, but championships are won by teams. Engineers, mechanics, strategists, and countless others work together to give that driver the best possible opportunity to succeed.
That’s how I view our responsibility at Intero.
Our job is to provide you with the strongest possible team, the best equipment, the right strategy, and the resources necessary to compete at the highest level.
Your job is to take advantage of them.
The real estate industry is changing whether we like it or not. We can resist that change, or we can embrace it and use it to our advantage. Personally, I know which direction I’d rather take.
So here’s my encouragement as we look toward 2027.
Don’t wait until you’re running out of fuel or your tires are worn down before deciding it’s time to make an adjustment. Take the time now to recharge, retool, and prepare yourself for what’s next.
Because the goal isn’t simply to stay in the race.
The goal is to win it.
And I believe we’re building something at Intero that will give every one of you an extraordinary opportunity to do exactly that.
Have a great weekend!
